New change management process and resources
11 July 2022
The University’s change management process has been created to ensure that we are planning, delivering, and managing change activities successfully. It aims to help manage the pace and scale of change at the University.
Who does it impact?
All colleagues should familiarise themselves with the new change management process. If you lead, manage or support change activities, you should refer to the University's change management process first, at the initial ideas stage, before developing your idea.
Does it apply to all change activity?
We understand that change is part of day-to-day activity, so the change management process aims to capture those change initiatives that have a wider impact on the University, particularly on people.
We consider resource, impact on people, risk to the University and cost when measuring impact. The Change Initiative Definition and Size and Significance of Change Table will help you to measure the impact of your change initiative.
Key information about the new process:
- It is an institutional process.
- It gives colleagues in professional services, who support and manage change regularly, an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposal early on, helping you to build your case and properly consider impacts and risks to the project and University.
- The change management templates have been simplified: Change Proposal Template and the Outline Business Case template.
- A suite of change management tools are available to help you capture information about your idea in a straightforward way.
- The Change Improvement Group, will review proposals and comment on the wider implications of adding the initiative to the current portfolio of change activity, assessing the University's capacity to handle more change and considering feedback from those impacted, when making its assessment.
