You can register and make your first appointment for the service online
To make an appointment with the Counselling and Wellbeing team:
- Please complete online registration
- Once you are registered, we will send you a link to book an initial assessment appointment with a member of the team, this can be in-person or via MS Teams. We will contact you within 5 working days if you haven’t received a communication from us please check your junk mail and email counselling@reading.ac.uk. All communications will go to your university email address.
- At the end of your assessment appointment you will be recommended a programme of support and this will also be sent to you via email. This support can include onward referral or signposting to services that are best placed to support you, short-term counselling, group therapy sessions or support sessions from one of our Mental Health Advisors.
- We are able to offer you a limited number of appointments and this will include missed sessions and late cancellations. To avoid forfeiting an appointment please provide 2 working days’ notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

Please note that the University’s Counselling service is not an emergency service. All students have access to the 24hr support line where you can call or live chat with experts in your preferred language at any time of the day, also view urgent help pages or resources and external support.
