Guidance for selecting your optional modules depending on your course and year of study
New Undergraduate students on International Foundation Programme or International Foundation Year
For Part 0 International Foundation Programmes (IFP) and Internation Foundation Year (IFY)
Login to RISIS to view the module browser which opens on Monday 14 September 2026 at 09:00 (UK time), where you can view the optional modules available on your programme.
Online module selection opens 21 September 2026 at 09:00 (UK time), log into RISIS to make your online optional module selection(s) for Semester 1 and Semester 2 modules before 24 September 2026, 23:59 (UK time).
The deadline for changing Semester 1 optional modules is 09 October 2026 12:30pm (UK Time).
If you want to change optional modules, please contact the module selection team using Ask A Question and select the module selection category, providing the module code and module title of the module(s) you wish to change.

New Undergraduate students on a Foundation Year programme
For Part 0 Foundation Year (FY) students, please log into RISIS to check if your programme offers optional modules where teaching starts in Semester 1.
Log into RISIS to view the module browser which opens on Monday 14 September 2026 at 09:00 (UK time), where you can view the optional modules available on your programme. If there is an optional module where teaching starts in Semester 1 that is available on your programme, and you would like to select a module, contact the module selection team using Ask A Question and select the module selection category, providing the module code and module title of the module(s) you wish to study.
The deadline for changing Semester 1 optional modules is 09 October 2026 12:30pm (UK Time).
For Part 0 Foundation Year (FY) students, please log into RISIS to check if your programme offers optional modules where teaching starts in Semester 1.

For Part 1 programmes, please log into RISIS to check if your programme offers Languages for All modules, alongside other optional modules offered which start teaching in Semester 1.
Browse your optional modules from 14 September 2026 and contact the module selection team using Ask A Question to confirm any Semester 1 starting optional modules available to select on your programme by providing the module code and module title of the module(s) you wish to study.
For optional modules offered where there are restricted numbers or if you questions, please contact the module selection team using Ask A Question and select the module selection category.
School Module Briefings for Semester 2 optional modules available to take on your programme, will normally take place in Semester 1 week 3 or 4.
The deadline for changing Semester 1 optional modules – (except Languages for All modules) is 09 October 2026 12:30pm (UK Time).

If you have selected a Languages for All module to be taken in the 2026/2027 academic year, you will be sent an email to complete an application/placement test.
You will need to complete the application/placement test to secure your place on your chosen language.
IMPORTANT - Students who do not complete the application/placement test will be removed from the module.
