Funding available to research students at the University of Reading

The University has around 150 entry awards across all subjects open to outstanding PhD candidates over the year. See the Doctoral and Researcher College funding opportunities for more information.

Other sources of funding for research students

Many schools and departments also offer funding at different times of the year; these may be listed in postgraduate research areas pages. An external site the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding, also contains information on a range of possible funding for your studies.

The UK government provide loans for PhD students to hep with tuition fees and living costs. The loan is paid in instalments and is paid back alongside any other loans you have with Student Finance Doctoral Loan. Find out more on the governments Doctoral Loan webpage.
