The Newcomers' Group

The Newcomers' Group is a supportive and welcoming community where family members of UK and international students and staff at the University of Reading can meet informally. Everyone is welcome!

The group provides an opportunity for dependents and families of UK and international students and staff, often very far from home, to meet others in a similar situation. It is completely free, and coffee, tea and biscuits are available.

The activities are informal and cater for all levels of English. There are toys for the children, while the parents can converse and incidentally improve their grasp of English and understanding of British culture.

We have supported many people across the years from all over the world.

We meet on Thursday mornings (during university term time) between 10.30 and 12 in the University of Reading Chaplaincy Centre. We also organise get-togethers outside term times and details of these are available on our public Facebook group.
