Special arrangements

What are special arrangements?

A number of students qualify for special examination and assessment arrangements.

Special arrangements are any reasonable adjustments made to an exam and/or assessment where we consider that the standard arrangements will put you at a disadvantage because of a disability, medical or personal problem, specific learning difficulty, or religious observance.

Some examples of such arrangements are:

  • Being allowed extra time in which to complete exams and timed assessments
  • Being allowed to take rest breaks during examinations and timed assessments
  • Not being penalised for poor spelling, grammar or awkward sentence structure in examinations and in coursework
  • Being allowed to use a computer in examinations and timed assessments
  • Being allowed to use a scribe or reader in exams and timed assessments
  • Being provided with enlarged question papers
  • Being allowed to sit examinations in an alternative smaller venue
  • Adjusting your examination timetable to accommodate religious observance
