Make the most of MyJobsOnline

Follow our steps to using MyJobsOnline successfully.

MyJobsOnline (MJO) has been created exclusively for University of Reading students. MJO offers you the chance to view and book career and placement events, workshops and career fairs. You will be able to browse lists of vacancies across all sectors posted by employers who are actively seeking to recruit Reading students and graduates. You can also book career and placement advice appointments to gain support with the application process or any other career planning questions you might have.

Follow our 5 step guides to making MJO work for you...

    Apply for jobs, placements or internships

    Step 1 - Log in

    Log in using your UoR student credentials and use the 'Search' tab at the top of the page, then select 'Opportunities.’

    Step 2 - Hone your search

    Using the filters on the left hand side of the next screen, narrow down your search to find the type of role you are looking for.

    Step 3 - View live jobs

    To learn more about an opportunity press on the job title. Here you can explore details about the role and how to apply.

    Step 4 - Apply for roles

    To apply, follow the instructions in the 'How to apply box' or click on the ‘Apply Now’ button, which will take you through to the relevant webpage to start your application.

    Step 5 - Arrange career support

    If you need help with your application, remember you can book a Careers Appointment to receive expert advice from one of our Consultants. (See Booking and cancelling an appointment on MJO).

    Book a careers or placements advice appointment

    Step 1- Log in

    Log in using your UoR student credentials at MyJobsOnline and go to the 'Book' tap then select 'Appointments'.

    Step 2 - Search available appointments

    Select the appointment type you would like such as:

    • Careers appointment (20 minute initial appointment)

    • Mock interviews

    • Placements appointment

    Click 'View appointments' to show the list of available.

    Step 3 - Click to book

    Select the one that suits you by clicking ‘Book'. Use the 'show more...' button at the bottom of the list to load more if you need a later date.

    Step 4 - Upload your CV

    On the next page you can upload any relevant documents (such as a CV or cover letter that you want to review), select a reason for booking the appointment, and provide any further information that will help the Careers Consultant prepare for your visit.

    Step 5 - Confirm booking

    Click ‘Book appointment' to confirm the booking.

    Book onto a careers, placements or employer event

    Step 1 - Log in

    Log in using your UoR student credentials at MyJobsOnline and go to the 'Book' tab then select 'Events'

    Step 2 - Search events of your preference

    Browse through the list of events displayed. You can use the search filters on the left hand side to help find the right events for you.

    Step 3 - When, Where, Why?

    Click on the event title to see a description and information such as time and place.

    Step 4 - Click to book

    To book your place click on ‘Book now’ and select ‘Yes’. Fill in any booking questions and click 'Submit'.

    Step 5 - Confirm your booking

    The final screen shows confirmation of your booking. If you change your mind, click ‘cancel booking’.

    Cancel an appointment

    Step 1

    When in MyJobsOnline, click on the 'My Profile' tab then select 'My Bookings'.

    Step 2

    To cancel, click on your appointment and click on the ‘cancel booking’ button.

    Step 3

    The next screen asks for a reason for your cancellation – select the best answer then click ‘cancel booking.’

    Create a job alert and set your preferences

    Step 1 - Log in

    Log in using your UoR student credentials at MyJobsOnline

    Step 2 - Update your details

    Click the 'My Profile' tab and choose 'My Profile' from the drop down list. Click on the 'Edit Profile' button on the right hand side of the screen.

    Step 3 - Choose your frequency

    Scroll down the page until you see 'How would you like us to contact you?' and make your selection.

    *Top tip* try our weekly updates as a minimum, you can change your preferences at any time.

    Step 4 - Choose your content

    Tailor the information your receive to your interests by updating the 'Refine what you see and receive section'. Your needs and interests might change, so remember you can update this any time too!

    Step 5 - Confirm and save

    Click ‘Save’ and you’re done!

    Now use MJO to browse and book Careers appointments and mock interviews, and search events and opportunities!
