Here are some of the ways our Security Team are working to ensure your safety:
Chaperone service
If you’ve been working or studying late at night and feel uneasy about returning to your accommodation on campus, you can contact Security to make use of their free chaperone service, where they can monitor your journey remotely on CCTV and may be able to accompany you in person.
Campus Watch
This scheme is a two-way partnership between our Security Services and our campus community that encourages the sharing of safety information. For more information visit: reading.ac.uk/security
Street Warden scheme
A team of trained staff work in residential streets around the campus between 9pm and 3am on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to help students and members of the community feel safe and supported in the local area when socialising at night.
Safety and security advice
The Security Team have also shared some security advice on topics such as personal safety, keeping your bike and vehicle secure, and safe cycling. Check out the staying safe and secure webpages for advice and support on staying safe at university.
